According to another legend, once the spirit of a shepherd and his Corso appeared in a village exactly at Halloween after they were murdered in the long period after harvest. A dead-march formed towards the church on the way to the mass. While the people and the shepherd were in the church, the Corso was sitting outside waiting for his master to come out to whom he’s loyal in life and in death. Morphology, character, utilization Medium to large-sized, robust, the body suggesting strength and dynamics, it cannot be sluggish, stocky. The body is somewhat longer than the height at the withers. Never was pure beauty the most important but the value in utilization, that is how it survived until today. Elegant, harmonic appearance, suggesting strength, agility and unbelievable endurance. In its distribution area, be it steep rocky hills or thick underwood or sun burnt meadow, only a dog could work and perform to expectations like the Corso, with strenght, endurance, agility, activeness. The body from head to toe is without extremes, healthy, there is no breed specific diseases. It belongs to those rare breeds that is suitable for several functions without modifications, be it herding, guarding, protection of person or territory, hunting, child supervision. Many tasks with many expectations and still this breed can perform all. Its motion, reactions are remarkably fast. Its manners and temperament proves its warm-blooded Italian traits. Intelligent, easily trained, and emphasis, it does not mean dressage. Force implies only defiance, he answers toughness with toughness. It is remarkably kind and loving in the family. This characteritic can be seen in the description of many other breeds, but the Corso is indeed very insistent. Beyond every description and breed introduction, vast personal experience proves this. Due to this characteristic there is clearly a task we should select a different breed for. This is the guarding of areas and buildings where the beloved master or its family is not present. It is difficult for them to bear lonelyness, one meeting per day with the beloved person is not enough. They feel good in the family where they can fit in and where they get at least what they can give. Its adaptibility and functional flexibility is amazing. Almost everything depends on puppy and young age training. Considering its size, its dense coat, the moderate demand for active motion and high adaptability they can both live in the flat or in the yard. Bearing in mind that we determine the lifestyle of our Corso, its daily rhythm, its life conditions, also our expectations, we have to start training them in time.
